How it Works:
Every Community Corrections program depends on law enforcement officers to check in with the housebound or work-release offenders on a regular basis. During each visit, the officers must complete a number of tasks that are unique to each offender’s sentence, and which vary from visit to visit. Typical tasks including:

The sheer volume and variety of tasks creates a bureaucratic nightmare for officers, with considerable redundancy of effort in tracking and reporting each visit. Yet any offender who “falls through the cracks” and commits another crime creates a liability risk for the law enforcement agency. What’s more, the lack of complete agency-wide visitation data leaves agencies open to complaints of racial, sexual or other discrimination in frequency or conduction of visits.

The Solution: EZComply from AST Consulting

North Webster, Indiana-based AST Consulting worked with corrections officials in local Cass County to develop a fully integrated scheduling, survey, database and reporting tool designed for deployment on a handheld PC. This robust system enables officers to download a daily schedule of required visits, complete with an offender-specific checklist requiring officer input before the visit task can be closed. Once all the visits are complete, the officer docks the handheld PC with a desktop and uploads the day’s visit data to a central database. No keyboard entry is necessary.

The Benefits: Savings, Productivity, Consistency and - Best of All - Security
With estimated annual cost savings averaging $100,000 per county, EZComply is positioned to revolutionize Community Corrections programs nationwide – and yet reduced costs are just one of the benefits of AST’s EZComply system. This brings law enforcement officers out of the cubicle and into the field for greater community security.
